Joseph Gordon-Levitt, star of (500) Days of Summerand 10 Things I Hate About You, began work on a project called hitRECord, a collaborative new media outlet that allows submissions of all forms of art and combines them into cohesive productions. Contributors from the music world work with those from the film genres and beyond. When a particular project turns out especially well, Gordon-Levitt uses his industry connections to pitch the project to the traditional entertainment industry to generate profits, which are then shared with the contributing artists.
This new take on the global media industry provides opportunities for artists from around the world to collaborate and create new projects that combine all forms of media.

I think this is a perfect example of how artists can help each other get exposure and not feel like they're jeopardizing their own success. I'm happy to see an actor who's made a name for himself lend a hand to artists who are still trying to get their foot in the door. In a business that appears to be more about who you know than what you know, I think a lot of great talent gets overlooked.
