Nintendo Takes a Gamble

What are, arguably, the most popular electronics on the market today? Small and Fast. We see it with cellphones, cameras, computers, etc. In certain eyes, smaller is better. Why should you have to lug around a large camera when the same quality and a sleeker design is achievable with a smaller device. With Nintendo's new system, however, smaller is not the case.

Nintendo has just recently unveiled their new DS system, the "DSi XL," to be released in the spring of 2010. This upgraded version's size rivals "a paperback novel," which makes it's screen nearly "80% larger." But in a world where consumers demand things smaller and more portable, the question is: Will it sell?

Of course people are going to buy it. Number one it's a gaming system, it doesn't matter how big or small it is people who are consumers of this market are going to want it because, it's the newest and it has updated features. Besides, it's from one of the original makers, Nintendo. The fact that it's about the size of a paper back really isn't a big deal beacause, guess what?! People buy books all the time and take them places-weird I know...It is slightly out of sorts that a company in this era would be making a product larger but there is definately a market for it, you don't see them making smaller TV's do you?!

The fad had been sold years ago, owning a portable gaming device. The more smaller or sophisticated you make the devices, the more consumers will let go of the last device to get their hands on the new one. It's a fact of life in today's society of electronics. Just as cell phones were a big craze! The smaller and more powerful the phone was, the more consumers were willing to spend to get it.

It will sell. no doubt. one reason being that bringing back old fads is in style now so nintendo is kind of bringing back the old size of the original gameboy. And with entertainment, bigger is always better, so people will love the bigger screen size.
