Google Foots Bills For WiFi In Airports

Google has decided, for a holiday gift to travelers, to foot the bill for WiFi at 47 airports across the nation. They are doing this to give the customers something for Free for the rest of the year. They are going to be bringing the Google page up as the first page you see. They will also ask you to set that page as your homepage. A pop-up will come up asking you if you want to start using Google Chrome. So as the consumer enjoys the free internet that he or she is receiving, which is wonderful since a day on airport WiFi costs about $8, while Google promotes their pages and browser even more then they do now. Personally, I feel like this is a great change for airports. I am tired of paying for internet at airports. What do you think about this temporary change?

I think this is an awesome idea! Part of my reasoning is because I'm cheap, but another reason is the run in I had with wifi after summer orientation for Belmont. I flew to Nashville on my own to sign up for classes last summer. I then had to fly from Nashville to Cleveland to meet the rest of my family for a wedding. Orlando's airport has free wifi but I just thought it was the norm. When I got to the airport here I had to email my parents a change in flight times and realized i wouldn't be able to do that without coughing up some dough. I was furious and sorry for myself, then my whole day just self destructed. I think free wifi would get rid of a lot of people's problems on flights.

Wow, that is totally awesome! I think it is probably a good use of free by Google. I hope the airports I will be using this year will have this free WiFi.

I totally agree.I think that it is a great move by google and a great use a free. I think that it should be a permanent change. With all the money we are spending on plane tickets and rediculously expensive airport food, it would be nice to get somthing for free.

I think that free WiFi is a very good idea for airports. Like Ryan said, we are already spending a massive amount of money on the ticket alone not to mention checking luggage and airport food. It was smart on Google's part to start making WiFi free and I hope that they will eventually keep it that way.

I agree with everyone on this one. We are so used to having internet for free and is so frustrating to have to pay for it especially when you have to spend vast amounts of time in the airport because you have to be so early these days. This will be great for business travelers or anyone who wants to utilize time to get work done. This is really great PR for google!

This is AWESOME! I'm guessing it's gonna go over huge and they will continue to leave up even after this season. Eventually diffrent products and networks will most likely also evolve with the demand...I agree that this is great business on Google's part (big suprise!)
