Moments after heart surgery, Elizabeth Taylor tweeted to her thousands of nervous followers that the surgery was indeed a success. Her tweet read:
"Dear Friends, My heart procedure went off perfectly.
It's like having a brand new ticker.
Thank you for your prayers and good wishes …
I know they all helped. Love you, Elizabeth."

This relates to a bunch of the Twitter articles that have been posted before. Twitter has become a way of instant communication, which I am especially fond of. I am always up to date with everything going on in the lives of others and also the world within seconds of logging on to twitter. Some might say it is too personal, but lately, I would find myself lost without Twitter being the main source of my information.
I'm not particularly fond of personal updates. it seems that when you do talk to that person who has been giving updates than there is nothing to talk about. when you say "what's new?" than they are going to tell you what you already know. yes i do use Facebook but i hardly give personal updates. when i finally talk to people back home than i have something to talk about. it just seems that real world contact is slowly diminishing.
I agree with Jonathan. The instant communication via the web or any other electronic device is slowly eroding face to face communication. In my personal experience, it takes away the excitement and sincerity of a conversation. For example, I found out that my best friend was getting married through Facebook. I was thrilled with the news but it would have been much personal and much more exciting if she would have told me over the phone or in face-to-face conversation.
I agree, I dont think people need to know what someone else is doing 24/7. It makes me wonder why 1) people want others to know about the personal life so much, and 2) why people want to know about others so much. I dont know if it is insecurity or what but i think people tend to go over board this personal updates, twitter, facebook, etc.

I think that the idea of knowing what someone is doing all the time is crazy. What happened to actually making a phone call and letting friends and family know how you are doing? I agree that a lot of the current technology is ending personal communication.
I think that Twitter has become greatly overused in the last few months. Although I think it is a great way for actors, singers, famous people to get in touch with their fans. I don't think I need to know what is going on every second of everyday in their lives. They always talk about wanting privacy, but yet they themselves are putting all their lives on the web.
I agree with the fact that it is slightly annoying having someone update their status every five minutes wether it be on Facebook, Twitter, or whatever. I also agree that it leaves little room for new conversation. On the flip-side, however, I really enjoy getting updates on my phone from some things, such as Rocketown, with show updates. I think their are definitely positives and negatives.
At least she is letting her fans know directly that she is okay, and they aren't having to hear this information through a grapevine of random sources. Generally speaking though, I find it weird that celebrities are willing to give us so much insight into their personal lives. The fact that they have time to worry with something like Twitter is confusing to me. If I were a celebrity, I would try to maintain as much privacy as I could. Some celebrity Twitter users don't get very personal, but I, as a fan of many people, have never been into Twitter and don't have the motivation or see the reason to constantly keep tabs on people like that.
