Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for her best female video award at the VMAs Sunday night (Sept. 13) was interrupted by Kanye West's sudden appearance onstage -- from out of the audience. West said before a shocked audience, "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!" The camera showed an obviously stunned Beyoncé in her seat in the audience. She seemed to be as shocked as did the entire assemblage. The screen cut back to Swift, who was too surprised to do anything other than to look down and then walk away. West went on his way, to some boos from the audience. Beyoncé was still in her seat. The next reaction by the audience was to give a standing ovation for Swift. But by the time West handed the microphone back to Swift, her time slot was over and the show went to a video with Tracy Morgan and Eminem. The next presenter, Justin Bieber, made a point of saying, "Taylor Swift deserved that award."Later in the show, Beyoncé acknowledged her win for video of the year for "Single Ladies," saying she recalled her nomination for a VMA at age 17 with Destiny's Child. Beyoncé called Swift back to the stage and said, "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."When Swift walked onstage, she noted, "Maybe we could try this again," and the audience responded with hearty applause.Swift won for her video "You Belong With Me." Beyoncé was nominated for "Single Ladies." Swift -- before being interrupted by West -- had said, "I sing country music, so thank you so much for giving me a chance to win a VMA." When Diddy later read West's name in the show when introducing the best male video nominees, the crowd booed. Diddy asked, "What happened?" -- as if he didn't know. Many in the audience responded by chanting Swift's name. Not too long after the show, Swift did a performance of "You Belong With Me" in a subway station.Shortly after his rant, West was asked to leave Radio City Music Hall, the New York venue where the awards show took place.West's remarks recalled his reaction in 2004 when Gretchen Wilson beat him for the best new artist award at the 2004 American Music Awards. He suffered a similar meltdown.

This beyond upset me conscidering the fact that I have met Taylor mulitple times and let me tell you no one deserves to be spot lighted more then her. She is always gracious and kind and just minds her own buisness going around basking in the moment like everyone should get the opportunity to and then-WHAM! I can't believe how tactless and arrogant Kanye is and what's more is that no one is going to remember the fact that Taylor is the only country artist to date to have ever won a VMA and she gave a steller performance but they'll remember the night Kanye stole her thunder. I was very impressed by what Beyonce did to give Swift her moment back, at least what was left of it. I really hope that this was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as Kanye goes. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are tired of his big fat annoying pretentious ego and I hope this will deflate it and send him to live in outer space cause that might be the only place big enough for him.

I too found it appalling, but when are people going to learn to not let Kanye out in public? He's done numerous things like this, possibly most notably the extremely rude remarks towards former president Bush after hurricane Katrina. I'm just sick of Kanye, and wish someone would put him in his place.
I only agree that what he did was ridiculous and totally disrespectful. But unfortunately, from what Ive heard in response, its split right down the middle. Some say "kanye sucks, and what he did was completely ridiculous," while others say "it was funny, Kanyes the man, and country sucks." Which is a shame. Also i haven't seen anything affect face book status's in one night so significantly since the world series.
When I was watching the VMAs with my roommates and Kanye pulled that crap, at first we thought that maybe it was planned kinda like the Eminem and Bruno stunt for the MTV movie awards. However, it soon became obvious by the reaction of the crowd, not to mention the look on Taylor's face, that this was not planned. I honestly felt really sorry for Taylor because she is the first country singer to recieve a VMA and Kanye had to go and ruin it for her. In the words of Katy Perry, "It's like you stepped on a kitten!" MTV and other networks need to keep the mic away from Kanye at all times during awards shows.
I really found the whole thing kind of tragic. I mean the look on Taylor's face after that whole fiasco happened, she seriously looked like someone had like killed her dog or something. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, even though I'm not a big fan of her music. Honestly, I think some people should just learn when to keep their mouths shut. Kanye obviously has no filter and I wasn't a fan of him anyways, but I've heard lots of that used to like him say that they've just lost all respect for him after that. Right after it happened too, I went on Facebook and pretty much everyone's status had something to say about Kanye, so I have to say that media is definitely having a field day with this whole thing.
I really don't care if you like Taylor Swift or you hate her. What Kanye did was completely our of line. I went on Youtube later that night and saw a bunch of response videos praising Kanye, which I found to be a bit disturbing. Mass Media is feeding the problem even more. It's already been about a week since this happened, and it still on every news channel, every news website, and even every social networking site. For those of you who tweet, the words Kanye, Taylor, and VMA's are still on the "Trending Topics." Mass media prevents pointless news stories from blowing over. It is nice to be kept in the loop with things such as this, but there are bigger news stories out there that aren't being covered.
This recent Kanye explosion doesn't surprise me at all. I remember the days when Kanye was grateful and humble about his music. Ever since he won his first grammy, he's never been the same. He needs to learn how to appreciate other types of music and pay his dues to other artists that deserve recognition. Maybe it's because of his mothers recent death or maybe he really is just a jerk and thrives on the attention, but w/e the case is, his behavior at the VMA's was unacceptable and down right wrong.
I thought Kayne's actions, along with everyone else, were completely unacceptable. I don't care if you thought Beyonce had a better video, Taylor won and her ruined her moment. I'm not sure how I would react in that situation, but I thought she handled it with grace and professionalism.
Kanye is a jackass. this is nothing we dont already know. He has done this sort of thing numerous times. As a person, he is a piece of crap. As a multi-talented artist, he is one of the best. I wont go buy his albums however. I will download them illegaly. Thats what he gets. He has no right to do this sort of thing any time he does it but at this point i can honestly say i wasnt surprised in the least.
I've been hearing a lot about what Kayne did, and well, I think it's crazy how we hear about things like this that aren't important at all when should be hearing about things that have more relevance to our lives. Is what Kayne did really gonna change anything? Is it really going to make a difference in our lives? No, it's just gossip. Unneeded gossip.
I really liked Kanye until all of this drama! I hate when people show no class! I am defnitely Team Taylor. I am, however, slightly embarrassed that I am reading so much into this when the truth is that does it really matter what Kanye did? Shouldn't we focus a little more on how we are treating people rather than who Kanye will be rude to next?
Like most people, I thought this stunt may have been staged at first. MTV likes to keep the audience on there toes, so it was almost expected to happen. However, once I saw Taylor's face, I knew it wasn't staged. What Kanye did was absolutely wrong. He had no right to come on stage and steal the spot light from Taylor.
Kanye probably did this due to the fact that he has been off the media radar for awhile. He has always been the type of person to make a publicity scene when he has fallen out of the public eye.(Example: Bush and Katrina) Ever since the VMAs, not a day goes by without talk of Kanye.
I think he planned the stunt in order to be in the spotlight again. Unfortunately, Taylor was his victim of choice.
