Trump Angered by Presidential Lampooning

As some of you may have known, the annual White House correspondents dinner took place on Saturday night. President Obama addressed several issues, some pertaining to the massive damages due to tornadic activity in the south eastern United States and other issues concerning Donald Trump.

Apparently the 2012 presidential hopeful, was offended and angered by Obama's jests and responded by saying that " "he didn’t expect to be so much of a focus during the event, but 'I guess when you’re leading in most of the polls, that tends to happen.'" which is mostly incorrect according to major internet polling sites. Trump went on to say that Seth Meyers' “delivery was not good. He’s a stutterer and he was having a hard time.” Meyers can be seen on Saturday Night Live nearly every week. Now the reason that Trump has had such a presence in the media recently, are because of his incendiary comments on the President's birth certificate. Knowing this, Obama presented a video, that he said was of himself being born. He instead showed a clip from the Disney movie The Lion King, depicting Simba being presented to all of Africa.

Some may say that the whole Birther debate is irrelevant and detrimental to the public agenda and Obama's promise of change and progression and I tend to agree. Trump is just trying to draw attention away from other more important agendas, so that he can get media coverage for his upcoming bid for the 2012 presidency. Even though I dislike that politics have come to represent entertainment in America, I do find Trump extremely entertaining.

It's definitely good to know that Obama at least has a good sense of humor, that I feel Donald Trump should pick up on. No doubt, Trump is obviously a great business man, but how do we know him running for president is not just another way of him getting attention. I mean, was The Apprentice really that necessary. The only reason he's probably leading the polls is because everyone against Obama, probably just wants to hear Trump say "Obama you're fired."

I have mixed feeling about Donald Trump running for the presidential campaign in 2012. I seriously did not believe it when I heard the news. I do agree that Trump is an extremely intelligent businessman, but from my knowledge, what experience does he have in politics? He has never been involved in the political office. Even though he is a Republican, I see a former or current politician as our next president, not the host of Celebrity Apprentice.

I will respect anyone that can use a good Lion King reference, but more importantly I think President Obama handled the situation well. Considering his heckling came from Trump and not even someone I'd view as a qualified politician much less president, I think making Trump's objections into a joke seemed appropriate. I do not like the mingling between politics and entertainment, but I fear it's already pretty far gone. I'm interested to see what happens in the future. Will presidents be doing stand-up and have TV shows? Trump already has TV outlets.
I like the idea of understanding who the president is as a person and as a leader. The media can definitely aid that process, but I think a loss of respect occurs when the lines between leaders and entertainment becomes more blurred. Technically they are normal people, but they still are running the nation.

When I first heard rumors of Donald Trump possibly running for president, I was simultaneously intrigued and taken aback. Trump's strengths are his economic intelligence and business savvy - in those respects, I feel he could help alleviate the nation's debt. But his attitude is absolutely horrible. I don't appreciate the fact that he's using his money and name to bully others. He bullied Barack Obama into releasing a full copy of his birth certificate to prove a point - that he can get whatever he wants with enough harassment.

Clearly, Donald Trump is a tad ridiculous. But honestly, did we not know that already? I mean, just look at that comb-over. Obviously this is not a man who has a great sense of humor. However, kudos to Obama for making light of what was probably a really uncomfortable situation. You know what they say about catching more flies with honey...

I personally did not think the Trump 2012 thing would come this far. When I first heard it I just blew it off. But the thought of Trump of all people being the president is greatly disturbing. I am not at all into politics but I can only hope that this will blow over and the public would not support this.

Wait, so Trump is taken seriously when he runs for president, but Stephen Colbert wasn't? Sorry, but I can't and don't want to imagine Trump as president, I think it'd be awful. He just seems obnoxious to me, and while he might be serious about politics, I think he should run for a lower position first. Plus, he probably only wants it because he doesn't like Obama.
As for Obama's video of him being born...awesome. I'm impressed with his sense of humor.
