Today I saw in the headlines that Chris Brown had broken a window to his dressing room at Good Morning America after being asked questions about Rihanna. In the interview he went on to say that “It’s not really a big deal to me now, as far as that situation. I think I’m past that in my life. Today’s the album day, so that’s what I’m focused on.” Chris Brown’s new album “F.A.M.E” was released today and was the top downloaded album on iTunes.
So did this incident this morning help him in his album sales? In my opinion, yes. The incident against Rihanna happened 2 years ago and Chris Brown plead guilty and completed everything the court asked him to. He basically disappeared for awhile to figure things out. I believe people are ready to look past what he did and start to focus on his music.
Do you think people are going to hold this against him or do you think people will start to look past it all and focus on his music?
Here is a video that recaps what happened.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgVFwrXFEX8

interviewers ask questions to get a response out of these guests and that is exactly what happened. I personally find it in bad taste to bring up that situation again however it was an opportunity for him to use restraint and unfortunately he did not. I personally stopped listening to him after the reports of domestic abuse. I think his dancing with the stars performance could have been away for the public to focus on his music again but I think his display of his lack of self control is a justified reason to cancel his appearance. It must be frustrating from his position as well to try to forge ahead as an artist but this is apart of taking responsibility of his actions. This story makes me even more avid in not supporting him anymore.
I really feel that people need to let Chris Brown move on from that point of his life. He served his time, and almost lost his career when he was on top of his game. Although it will never amount to the pain he caused Rihanna, karma is paying a fair amount to him. What I don't understand is currently people are practically praising Charlie Sheen for his crazy antics and he's selling out Radio City, and no one is constantly showing up on his door pressuring him to answer questions he doesn't want to answer. I hope that people will just begin to focus on Chris Brown's music again, and realize he's human as well and makes mistakes. Yes, it was a very lethal mistake, but it is in the past now.
I think that some people will hold it against him, and some people won't. I think that there will be some people that will put the situation in the past and some that will hold it against him. I think that people should look past it, although it was a terrible thing that happened, because everyone makes mistakes and no one should be judged by another human being on what he/she does. It's unfortunate for famous people because I feel like when they do something bad, more attention is focused on them than a non-famous person.
Obviously the Rihanna situation is a part of his past, and he will have to live with the consequences of his actions. However, I really think that after two years it should be left in the past. Yes, Chris Brown reacted strongly after the interview, but he was at an interview to talk about his new album, not to dwell on his past mistakes. In my opinion, it is high time that the media leaves the past behind and focuses on more pressing, current events.
