What's So Great About the Droid?

So is this phone anything special? I've done some research on it and the features include 10,000+ apps, tunes, video, multitasking, notification panel, high speed, high-res., and speech recognition. You can also download the barcode that allows you to scan an item and receive all the information about that particular item. I think that's pretty awesome but can't quite a few other phones do this too? I noticed that you have to purchase a seperate data package for this phone that's $30.00 extra. They are saying that it's on sale for $200.00, but that's only if you're eligible for an upgrade, without the data package, and after the mail-in rebate. Without the upgrade or rebate, your going to end up forking over about $600.00 for this phone. Is it worth the money? What does this phone have to offer that others don't?

I definitely don't think its worth the money. I think the Droid is stupid and a waste of time.

I think people get too caught up on phones instead of strongly considering what the CARRIER has to offer. Many people have service with AT&T simply because they wanted the iPhone. Personally, I love my service with Verizon; they are the best, point blank.

I just bought the HTC Droid Eris. I initially wanted the Droid from Motorola simply because it had a physical keyboard in addition to the virtual one. In my opinion these two phones are the best that Verizon have to offer.

So if you're just looking for a cool phone, I agree that you may want to spend your money on something else with similar capabilities, hence my decision to go with the Eris. But if you want a really cool phone AND spectacular service, I recommend the Droid.

Personally, I think this phone is off the chains. It's processor is faster than an average laptop that came off the market 3 years ago. This phone is a perfect example of technology taking another huge step forward. Granted, if you just want a phone to text call and facebook during class, you'd be better off spending hundreds less on a phone that does just that. It makes me mad when I see people with a droid and they don't even know what it means for a phone to multitask.

Any other smart phone you're going to buy is going to have a data plan which is going to be about $30 as well as upgrade options and a mail in rebate. This has the ability to run multiple apps which sets it apart from many other smart phones. Although I'm not going to buy one, i can see why this phone has someone of a superiority over others in this market.

The only thing I knew about the Droid before reading this post is the really annoying ringer that comes with it that says 'DROID' in this really loud and slightly terrifying voice - my roommate uses it to wake up in the morning... However, I think it's a pretty cool phone! I like the applications and the scanner function. Still, I'd rather buy an iPhone.

It is no where near worth the money for me. I have Sprint; but I imagine that if I had Verizon, I would have the same opinion on it. Personally, I am fine with my low-cost Sprint phone with a camera and a video camera. While the Droid does do some pretty cool things, it seems to me like a copy of the iPhone. Unless you are a Verizon user eligible for an upgrade, it makes more sense to go ahead and get the real deal... the iPhone.

I really wanted this phone and so did my friend. We had it all planned out and went to purchase it at the end of the summer, but to our dismay it cost way more than the advertisements claimed. I definitely don't think it's worth the money because there are plenty of other phones that have the same features.

Data phones are all ridiculously expensive. This past month I actually learned that AT & T requires you to have and pay for the data plan if you purchase a data phone regardless of if you plan on using the "data". Annoying!
