Apple Tablet Is Latest Attempt by Steve Jobs to ‘Shock and Awe'

We've been anticipating the release of Apple's Macbook Touch. There are a lot of questions and much uncertainty concerning the tablet's capabilities. But it is accepted that Apple definitely needs to "shock and awe" consumers.

Apple will probably extend its partnership with AT&T to include the Macbook Touch, but the cost associated with these services may turn away those who are currently paying for a smartphone service plan. The biggest challenge will be convincing consumers to purchase an unpopular device (tablets only account for 1 percent of the PC market). The tablet lacks a physical keyboard and relies on a pen and the touch screen for input. The key is to make a distinct difference between the Macbook Touch and the iPhone.

The expected price is projected to be between $700-800.

I can't wait. I want one. I don't think that it is necessarily a break through in technology because there is a lot that it doesn't do but I still want one. It would become my new portable dvd player.
And when the next version of it comes out and its better and can do more... I'll trash this one and get the newer version.
Its just the way I work I guess.

I don't think I'll get one. Actually I'm pretty positive I won't. It just doesn't seem like anything that I absolutely need. I'm perfectly fine with my lap top and ipod touch.

I think that it's just another pointless luxury item. I'm fine with my macbook pro and my ipod classic. I don't see any of these new apple items that are touchscreen and technologically improved as necessities in the world right now, especially since the ipod touch and iphone have an incredibly small amount of storage on them or did last I checked. I think that I probably wouldn't buy one of these but i'm sure they'll do fine on the market with those obsessed with new technology, but i'm happy with what apple already has out.
