What does the big "G" know about you?

Think your Internet life is private? Think again.
It is highly possible that Google may know more about you, than you know about yourself.
In today's society, Cybersecurity is becoming one of the largest problems we face with the Internet. However, in an attempt to make its consumers feel better about using Googles services, Google has offered up a program called Google Dashboard.
The launch of Google Dashboard is Googles' response to the tight situation. It offers a one-stop-shop place where users can adjust their privacy setting or delete content. The page will list details of the Google products and services that account-holders utilize. This can include anything from which YouTube video you have viewed, to details from your Gmail box.
So, my suggestion would be utilize the program. I believe we have all signed up for one or two programs in our lives, and then forgot about them. Well, the big G has not. While Google Dashboard could be an unpleasant reminder of just how much information is out there, it is important to utilize and benefit from the program.

I think that this is brilliant public relations work by google. One of the primary emotions that we utilize as humans is fear. Google is feeding off of this fear in providing a safety and security software that is only a reminder of what we have already done. This is brilliant and deals with a possible critique of Google's system before it even came up.

I agree. By allowing us to regulate how much of our personal information is available on the Internet, Google is introducing more order into a lawless Internet, where people can blackmail others based on their online activity. Google is kind of like the government, in that they know more about you than you know; the thing that makes Google different is it respects your privacy and lets you regulate the information it has.

Okay, so this is so true. The other day I was hanging out with my friend on the men's basketball team. I decided to play a little "google" game. I told him that I was going to write his name in the google search tab and see if it recognized him. There was over an entire web page dedicated to information about him! That was a little bit freaky. But I thought, "Well, he's college basketball player so his name would be on-line." I decided to try my name. Unlike the basketball player, there was not an entire page with my name on it. However, there were about three links that referred to me. WOW! That showed me that anyone can find things out about a person by simply using Google. Google knows everything and I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. I think it is a good thing for school work...but I am not too big of a fan of knowing that by typing my name into it, some stranger could find information on me and possibly use it against me.
