Every Sunday the majority of people go to church. We get ready and head out to church and then possibly a Sunday brunch. But what if we didn't have to attend church in person anymore? There is now an app on the iPhone that allows people to sit anywhere in the world and still get the message. What are your thoughts on the whole Church online option?

i think this church online is awful. It is just giving people an excuse not go to church anymore. there is so much more that you get out of church than just the message given by the pastor. Maybe that's just me becuase I'm a very religious person, but nothing can replace the atmosphere that you feel while you're at church. Watching the service from a computer wouldnt have the same affect on me as it would if I were actually in church. But that is just my own personal opinion.
I, like Kristin, am a religious person. When I saw this I looked for some Bible verses about Church attendance. I think Hebrews 10:25 puts it best.
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
I think the online church contradicts this verse. Fellowship is so important. By having online church, you completely eliminate that face to face interaction. We are distancing ourselves from God by not meeting in his Holy Place with other followers. Don't you think that kind of goes against the whole idea of church in the first place?
I think this idea of an online church is completely ridiculous. Although it may be more "convenient" and easier to connect with a larger audience, that still doesn't make it right. Church is supposed to be in an intimate setting. It's like talking to a friend. Even though you can talk over the phone, it's so much better to speak to them in person. The same applies for the church which needs that interaction among followers to truly engage in the sermon or lesson being preached. Participating in church virtually, just isn't the same.
In a way, this is cool, because sometimes you just can't make it to church or you missed the sermon and want to hear it. Although that is cool, it takes away from one aspect of church, and that is fellowship with other believers. You can't get that when you aren't there with them. Just like you can't hangout with friends on facebook. Yes you can talk to them, but you don't have that personal connection that the internet lacks. Therefore, online church is really lacking in that area.
I'm with my boy blue on this one. I think the church online thing is useful in a number of ways, but it shouldn't replace worshipper's attendance at a physical church. Look, I'm not really the faithful man of the year, but I think the going to church is more than just a time to worship. It creates traditions among families and creates a community. This all has the feel of technology making our life easier, but worship in church is a subject I think we need to exclude from that practice.
i dont understand why you people are saying a form of church is ridiculous. its like you have been lead to believe that if you dont physically go to church then you wont go to heaven. thats stupid. who cares how you get the message as long as you get it. be serious. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." as long as you believe he died for you, youll go. just get the message any way you can.
